Believe it or don't, there really was a guy by the name of Edward A. Murphy (he was a captain in the army or air force) who around WWII or so was credited with the whole "if it can, it will" thing.

I had heard about the bread trick. I didn't try it since my BIL was the one who told me about it; and, by that point, I no longer trusted his advise.

We've got a 24/7 Home Depot in the area too, but it's an hour to two hour roundtrip depending and a lot of damage can happen in that amount of time.Daddy Hawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01386749814126280114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8970071813477046910.post-60333989072142505992010-07-15T11:40:23.190-05:002010-07-15T11:40:23.190-05:00great job...

Take some bread and stuff up the pipe it will swell up and stop the water flow (if not to drastic) do your nasty with the solder and when you turn the water on the bread dissolves under pressure....

great advice about the project and hardware store...LOL

We have a Home Depot that stays open 24/7 fairly close so I can't use that as an excuse for honey do improvements...Mr. Daddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00293378178230073999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8970071813477046910.post-54413282357348179462010-07-15T07:35:02.739-05:002010-07-15T07:35:02.739-05:00GunDiva, yes. In the mean time, I'm going to enjoy not having grout semi permanently affixed to various body parts.

Also, your FIL was a wise man. Sequencing and timing is everything in a project of this size. It is also wise to make sure you do nothing potentially disastrous while the hardware store is closed. Almost made that mistake myself a couple of times...like when I learned that you can not solder a pipe full of water because the main shut off valve won't close properly.Daddy Hawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01386749814126280114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8970071813477046910.post-20386035207682869392010-07-14T12:00:37.387-05:002010-07-14T12:00:37.387-05:00Looks Great!
