| For those readers who do not get a tingle looking at engine parts, that is a thermostat which can usually be found somewhere on top of your engine block and controls coolant flow into the block so your motor doesn't overheat and seize up on you. The cylinder wedged on the left appears to be a 10mm socket which are notorious for disappearing. You do NOT want one to go walkabout INSIDE your engine. Bad juju results. |

The last thermostat I changed was on a Ford 390V8, It was on top of the motor , literally two bolts and the goose-neck was off, the old thermostat came out the new one went in. New gasket and done.

MSG Grumpy, my most recent thermostat change was on a Ford 5.4L 3V Triton motor. Your description is dead on for the 5.4 too. I am with you in wishing for ring side seats when Washington is overrun by Zombies. Sadly, the Zombies will likely skip that town due to a lack of brains.
