Anyone Up For A Puzzle?

That maniacal laughter you hear...just ignore it.

More to follow in a couple of weeks when the yet to be ordered Magpul collapsible buttstock arrives.

  1. I'll have to send you a picture of the SBR when it gets here.

    1. Yes, please, Captain. I'm debating whether to go through th hassle to get a suppressor for this one. Part of me really wants it. The other part can live without it and doesn't want to bother with the paperwork.

  2. Is there a lower to hold all of that together?

    1. 45er, yes. If you look in the archives in January of last year, you should see photos of a Spike's tactical stripped lower.

  3. Shepherd - this is my first SBR, and yes I'm getting a suppressor to go with it. I've avoided the temptation for years, but the .300 BLK is just too good of an all-around platform IMHO. Plus I figure do it now & pass it on to the kids down the road...

    1. Captain, I've read a little about the 300 BLK, but it doesn't light my fire or fill an immediate need for me...right now anyway. I will look forward to seeing and will beg to shoot it if I ever make it up your way though.

  4. Sounds good sir - you're always welcome as you know!

For me it looks to be filling a good niche - provided the Barnes ammo (or Black Hills depending on what they release) does as advertised this will probably become my go-to round. Better terminal ballistics and penetration than the 5.56, and with the can it's quieter than an MP5... plus a few other reasons I won't hijack your post with!

I will definitely provide updates though.

    1. Captain, hijack away. In fact, free to write a guest post on the subject. For my purposes, the 5.56 makes more sense. I don't plan on using it for anything beyond 200 yards and most shooting will probably be in the 50 to 100 yard range. Ammo availability isn't an issue. Heck, you can almost find it as cheap as 9mm. A .308 bolt action will be filling the long range niche. So, down range terminal ballistics isn't much of an issue. Having the option to put a can on is a plus since it will become my main home defense gun over the shotgun.

  5. Shepherd - I'll write something out for you & send it soon - this weekend is a bit busy, but perhaps by Monday. You may save or post as you wish!
