Career Choices

On Friday, I trotted down to the sleepy burg of Waco, Texas to the law school at Baylor University and participate in their preview day for prospective students. As part of the scheduled activities, us prospective students were afforded the opportunity to sit in on a class. I chose to sit in on a Constitutional Law class taught by a professor who appeared to be in his 70s. He was very cordial and greeted us potential victims with a very interesting observation. He said:

"It's not to late to be a TV evangelist. You get paid a whole lot more, you don't pay taxes and you get more sex."

Blink, blink.

  1. I kind of love that professor!

Good luck picking a law school! I hear Ole Miss has a lovely one. But, then again, I might be biased.

  2. Candance, he seemed like he would be a good professor. He joked that students would be able to use books on the test as long as it was the bible. Unfortunately, Baylor won't be an option for me since they don't have a part time program and I can't afford to quit my job. My only two realistic options are Texas Wesleyan and SMU. SMU will cost about $50k more. Barring some serious scholarship money, I will likely wind up at TW.

  3. Well, that professor seems to have your family nailed. Don't you have BOTH preachers AND horse thieves in your family? Maybe you're following the wrong branch of the family tree :)

  4. GunDiva, you could say that. I find his comments even more interesting when you consider that Baylor is a deeply Southern Baptist university that only allowed dancing on campus for the first time ever within the past 20 years or so.

  5. You know, the professor has a point. The televangelist probably works less too.

  6. DaddyBear. I suppose that depends on how much sex is involved. And praying over all those checks takes time.

As for the followers, I've been fortunate to get a hat tip here and there from some well followed blog writers.
