Yet Another Puppy Update

Some of this will be a repeat from the blog's Book of Face page, but I just wanted to provide the latest update on the pups who seem to be enjoying life with their forever homes.

The first to be "delivered" was Happy now known as "Oreo". She was last seen snoozing in a doggie bed she will need to grow into.

One "Happy" Oreo
Happy/Oreo and I spent a couple of hours of quality time together as her ride (a friend of Oreo's new owner) was an hour later than expected. She's a sweetie, and I'm sure her new home will take great care of her.

The next two "departees" were Sneezy, know known as "Lady Bird" and Grumpy now known as "Hagan".

Sneezy / Lady Bird snoozing with a toy

Grumpy / Hagan with his new boy
I don't have a copy of  the video handy, but Grumpy's  family sent a video of him romping with his new boy. He looked very happy, and he seems to be in very good hands. Grumpy and Sneezy will get to stay in touch as they grow up as their families are close friends.

Next up, Sleepy, now known as Jack Jack, went to one of the veterinarian techs at our vet's office. Jack Jack was last seen making friends with his canine house mates and humans. He's in really good hands. Unfortunately, I can't lay hands on the photos I have of them at the moment as Google Drive is not cooperating.

Dopey was the next pup to take a ride. He trekked all the way to Colorado to meet his new family who named him Tyson.

As you can tell, Tyson is just knocked out.

The remaining three pups plus Momma Dog will be staying in the family. Momma Dog was spayed last Wednesday. So, she will no longer be able to pop out the cutest little pups in the world. My Sister...The Devil will be taking Momma Dog home tomorrow where I expect her to become a regular fixture next to MS...TD's writing desk.

Tomorrow will also see Doc heading off to MS...TD's house to become Niece I Do It's dog. Last we heard, she was considering "Teddy" as the leading candidate for new names. Either way, Doc should be well loved. He's been camped out here at Casa Daddy Hawk for the last week to give Mimi a break from puppy duty, and he loves attention. He also sounds like a monkey when he whimpers.

The remaining two pups, Snow White and Bashful, will remain here at Casa Daddy Hawk as our family dogs. Snow White will henceforth be simply known as Snow although her nickname will be "Poof!". I really wanted to call Bashful "Roofus", but I was overruled. After much debate, we decided to call him "Chester." They've been having great fun (and no success) chasing Taco the rabbit around the backyard.

Puppy Update - And Then There Were Two

Once the pups were declared adoptable by the vet last Saturday, we (and by we I mean mainly The Queen) set about marketing puppies like we were selling refrigerators to Eskimos. I honestly didn't think we would have much trouble giving away free puppies (Mimi has declined to accept any money to recoup what she's spent in the last seven weeks); and, for the most part, I've been right it seems. Within days of Mimi green flagging the release of the hounds, all but two have found their forever homes.

Last night saw the delivery of Sneezy and Grumpy to a set of best friends. I must admit that I had become quite attached to Grumpy. He is a quiet soul who just wants to be loved, and THAT FACE!!! Oh my, he had the cutest puppy dog face I've seen in ages. I was very close to taking him off the market for myself when The Queen announced that he had been chosen by a family who had just lost their dog of 13 years to cancer. They have a 6 year old boy who will give him plenty of attention. Who can argue with that? Still, it was hard to let the little guy go. Sneezy's new momma is already spoiling her rotten. She was so excited to get her new fur baby, she went to PetSmart and got everything she could possibly need. Late last night, we received a text with a photo of Sneezy passed out in a pile of toys. She's in good hands.

Tonight, Sleepy goes to his new forever home. His new momma is veterinary technician at our vet's office who is also super excited to be bringing Sleepy home; and, as she pointed out, he will get excellent care since she works for our vet's office.

Tomorrow, Dopey goes on a little road trip with Mimi and Niece I Do It to meet up with his new forever family that lives in Colorado. They are expecting a new baby and wanted to the baby and puppy to grow up together. They are meeting up midway-ish in Abilene.

Sunday, Snow White and Happy will be coming home with us. Snow White will be staying here in Casa de Daddy Hawk while Happy goes to her new home Monday morning. M&M cannot wait for Snow White to get here.

That leaves Doc and Bashful as the two remaining pups in need of new homes. If no one claims Doc, I'll probably claim him as a Grumpy understudy. I'm a little surprised that Bashful hasn't been claimed yet. We all thought he would be the first to go.

Go figure.

We wish all the puppies well. I may post photos from time to time depending on what updates we get, if any.

Puppy Update

Since no one in particular is beating down my door asking for puppy updates, I figured now is as good a time as any to provide you all, my loyal followers, with reasonably fresh puppy pictures. As of this past Monday, the puppies are now 6 weeks old and well on their way to being cute and adorable. They had their first vet visit last Saturday at which time the vet pronounced them one and all healthy, hearty and ready for adoption.

Sleepy is the closet to a Mama dog clone as there is in the litter. He has dreamy blue eyes and just a little bit of white fur.

Bashful is a sweet boy with a wrinkly face.

Happy is a beautiful black and white female that looks like a Boston Terrier in her coloring. She has already been spoken for and goes to her forever home next Monday.

Grumpy is one of the Holstein twins, and he has a super cute face. He was on the short list for addition to the M&M Menagerie.

Snow White is a cute little fluff ball of fiesty femaleness. She's mostly white with a black mask and a cute little black ring around her tail. Interestingly, we thought Happy was the runt of the litter, but Snow White took that honor with a weigh in at 5.6 pounds. What she lacks in weight, she makes up for in energy. After lengthy deliberation, she was chosen as the first round draft pick to the M&M Menagerie.

Doc is another sweet little boy who is mostly white with buff colored ears and a few buff colored spots on his back. M&M thinks he is "ADORRRABLE!!!". Another short list contender for the solo dog spot in the M&M Menagerie.

Dopey is the other Holstein twin and just as sweet natured as his brother.

Last, but not least, Sneezy is the porker of the litter. She weighed in at over 8 pounds. She's HUGE compared to her sibs, and she is super sweet. She is very curious and loving. She is the fluffiest of  all the pups. She was the final candidate on the short list for the M&M Menagerie, and she might be the second draft pick if no one else claims her.

Comments

Unfortunately, some mangy twit has discovered my blog and decided to inundate me with a bunch of anonymous spam comments on old posts. In the triumph of optimism over experience, Senor Spammer has not figured out that comment moderation has been turned on for older posts. Having said that, I'm tired of having to go in several times a week to clear out his/her/their crap. So, I've changed the comment settings to require a Google account as opposed to allowing anonymous commenters. If you are a long time follower without a Google account affected by this twit, drop me a line. I'll see what we can work out.
