Special Just For GunDiva

Hair of the dog that bite you. Mind you, those are 12" x 12" tiles.

The hair of the dog that bit you, and the dog that bit you.

Who says a spayed dog can't give birth?

GunDiva....you are SO welcome.

  1. That's what it looks like when I give The Mouth a haircut...not that my child in anyway resembles a dog...much :)

  2. K - you know, I really appreciated your last surprise of the books. This one, not so much.

Do you know how hard it was to read between the pictures with my eyes averted and swallowing hard?

I guess I should thank you for helping out with my diet.

  3. GunDiva, you should be thankful. My first inclination was to mail you a box full of dog hair. I know. I'm too generous sometimes.

  4. I would have mailed back the bag of puke. By the slowest route I could find. And, being summer in Texas, it would be RANK by the time it got to you.

But thanks for the thought, it's nice that my friends are generous that way.

  5. GunDiva, the thing is, it is now hot enough here in Texas that the bag o' puke would have thoroughly dried by the time it arrived on my doorstep making it an only slightly unsightly yet odorless mess. Besides, you can't hurl anything that compares to the stench of the old dog's diarrhea. When she don't feel well, it is something foul.

  6. I'll be down Texas way in mid-July. Be honest - how hot is it going to be? Am I going to die? 'Cause I really, really don't like the heat. Not. One. Bit. It makes me crankier than my last meeting - and if you read THAT post, you know I mean c-r-a-n-k-y.

  7. GunDiva. You are so boned. Lows will likely be in the 80s and highs anywhere from mid 90s to low 100s.

  8. GunDiva, where are your Texas plans taking you? If you're going to be in a place like Houston, you'll need to prepare for the heat AND the humidity.

  9. Oh My Lord... I was not expecting a "let's kill the Fed-Ex guy" theme in the comments section... I mean, dog hair, puke, then the ultimate, dog diahrrea?!? EEK! I'm gonna stay on your GOOD side!

  10. Rachel, I truly am not the vindictive sort. Practical jokes are another story though.

  11. We'll be in Belton. Not a clue where it is other than about 2 hours away from the Austin airport. I'm already dreading the heat and humidity. I'll have about 24 hours in Vegas to acclimate to the heat, then I fly to Austin for a wedding and then, thank God, home to Colorado and the mountains for a week.

  12. I know exactly where Belton is. Mom's family used to have a lake house there. Central Texas (aka the Hill Country...everything from San Antonio north to about Waco or so) is the best. You're right...it's about 2 hours north of the airport in Austin.

You'll be coming into Austin Bergstrom Airport (which used to be Bergstrom AFB before the military base closures during the Clinton era) on the southeast side of Austin. If you have time, you must eat at 1) Iron Works BBQ (near the convention center) and/or 2) Chuy's Tex Mex on Barton Springs Road just south of downtown (there are other locations, but Barton Springs is the original). If you go to Chuy's, ask for the creamy jalapeno with your chips and salsa. It's like crack for adults. The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo and Elvis Fried Chicken are both excellent.

Central Texas usually isn't too bad on the humidity. At least, it's better than east Texas and the Gulf Coast. If you want to do a weather check, look at Austin, Temple and Killen...then average the three. Current forecast through next week is high 80s low 90s with thunderstorms throughout the week.

One other thing, you will drive through a sleepy little town called Salado on your way to Belton. Stop at the Stagecoach Inn for lunch. Go across the street for some neat shops.

If you need any other recommendations, don't hesitate to contact your friendly native Texan tour guide.

  13. Love all the suggestions - however, my flight arrives at 11:30 pm, so probably nothing will be open. The wedding's Saturday and Sunday we head to San Antonio for the day. Monday at o'God thirty we fly back to Colorado.

I think I'm tired in advance.

  14. GunDiva, one last suggestion. If you're going to be in SA for the day, Mi Tierra's in the Mercado near the Riverwalk in Downtown is a great place for a meal anytime. They are open 24/7, and the bakery is awesome.

  15. Thanks, I'll pass it onto RCC. Maybe we can stop by and take you up on at least one suggestion.
